2. General Information on Data Processing
The protection of your personal data is important to us. We process personal data only within the framework of applicable law.
Personal data means any information that can identify you personally.
3. Hosting and Server Log Files
When this website is accessed, the web server automatically collects information. This includes in particular:
- IP address of the requesting device
- Date and time of access
- Accessed page or file
- Browser type and browser version
- Operating system used
This processing is carried out to ensure operation, system security, and technical administration.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
4. Contact Requests
If you contact us by email, we process your data to handle your request.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
5. Cookies and Storage on Your Device
We use one strictly necessary session cookie that keeps you signed in for the duration of your visit. It holds no personal content, only a random identifier, and is deleted when you close your browser. Signing in is not technically possible without it.
For security reasons a session ends automatically after 60 minutes without activity.
For usage measurement (section 6) a further random identifier is stored in your browser's session storage. It is likewise deleted when you close the browser tab and does not allow you to be recognised on a later visit.
The legal basis for strictly necessary storage is Section 25(2)(2) TDDDG in conjunction with Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. For storage that is not necessary, used for usage measurement, we obtain your consent (Section 25(1) TDDDG, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Your decision about usage measurement is logged so that it can be demonstrated under Art. 7(1) GDPR. We store the time, the decision itself, the language selected, the browser identification string and a shortened, irreversible checksum of your IP address — not the IP address itself. You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future.
6. Usage Measurement
To improve our content we record how the pages are used. Measurement is carried out solely with our own software on our own server. No third-party service is involved, no data is passed to third parties, and no transfer to a third country takes place.
The following is recorded:
- the page requested and its title
- buttons and links clicked (label and destination)
- how far a page was scrolled
- the random session identifier described in section 5
- for signed-in people, the link to the user account
Measurement only takes place if you have consented beforehand. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR in conjunction with Section 25(1) TDDDG. Without consent, no usage data is collected.
With each event we also store the time, a shortened irreversible checksum of your IP address — not the IP address itself — and the browser identification string. For signed-in people, the user ID and email address are stored as well, so that use within the protected platform can be attributed to the account.
Within the protected platform we also evaluate usage in order to monitor operation and detect misuse; the legal basis for this is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Usage data is deleted after «retention period».
7. Map Display
The project calculator embeds a map to show the location you enter. The map tiles come from OpenFreeMap (openfreemap.org), a free map service based on OpenMapTiles; the underlying map data comes from OpenStreetMap.
The map is not loaded automatically. It loads only when you ask for it; until then no connection to OpenFreeMap is made and no data is transmitted.
Once you load the map, your browser connects directly to OpenFreeMap's servers. Your IP address is transmitted, along with technical details such as browser type and operating system, and the map section being displayed. We have no influence over this transmission. According to the provider, no cookies are set and no user profiles are created.
The legal basis is your consent, given by loading the map (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG). You may leave the map unloaded at any time; the calculation works fully without it.
The address you enter is processed solely to display the location. Further information on the map service: https://openfreemap.org — on the map data: https://osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy
